Robbie Savage names five players Manchester United should sign
Writing for the Mirror, Robbie Savage has named five players Manchester United should look to sign in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have turned a corner of late and are on a 17-game unbeaten run. This has been marked by ruthlessness in the attack followed by defensive solidity.
A number of players have stepped up and made themselves count. The club are primed to challenge for the top, provided we make the right moves in the window.
Savage has named five such players who can take us to the next level. He believes Kalidou Koulibaly will strengthen the backline alongside captain Harry Maguire.
In the midfield, the likes of Leicester City ace James Maddison and Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish have both been suggested. The duo will add to the quality brought in by Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba.
Savage also believes that bringing in a player of the ilk of Jadon Sancho or Harry Kane will show the club still has the pull to draw the best talents.
We cannot argue with Savage’s assessment that the five players mentioned above will not be game-changers for us. Some of the best in the business, they will certainly perk up our capabilities.
Money talks
However, it would take a small fortune to bring in even two of those players, let alone five. Given the current financial landscape, the club might find it difficult to spend huge money.
It is not a fact lost on Savage, who quotes the same. He believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is intent on creating a potent attack. If we get the players he has mentioned, no defence can stop us.
“A front five of Fernandes, Pogba, Rashford, Greenwood and Kane or Sancho would take some stopping.”
