Tottenham interested in Manchester United’s Alexis Sanchez

According to a report from 90min (h/t Express), in a shocking development, Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez, with a summer move in the works.

Sanchez, 31, joined United from Tottenham’s arch rivals Arsenal in January 2018. However, the Chilean international endured a torrid 18 months at Old Trafford, before being loaned out to Inter Milan last summer.

Sanchez’s struggles have continued in Italy as well, with him featuring just 11 times in the Serie A, scoring just once. With his loan deal expiring at the end of the season, talks over his future have once again been making the headlines.

And now, Tottenham are reportedly eyeing a shock swoop for the 31-year-old. It comes as a shock because Sanchez did not enjoy the best of relations with current Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, who brought him to United during his time at the club.

“Sanchez… I felt him [to be] not a happy man,” Mourinho had told prior to the 2019/20 season. (h/t Express)

Sanchez, too, has not held back in his comments against the Portuguese. (h/t The Sun)

“Sometimes I didn’t play, then I did, then I didn’t and as a player you lose confidence, each player lost their confidence, do you understand??”

However, Tottenham are now monitoring him with a summer swoop in mind. (h/t Express)

Given the current options at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Sanchez doesn’t seem to have much of a future at Old Trafford.

However, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham do act on their interest in the 31-year-old. If they do, it remains to be seen if the club offloads him to a direct rival.
