Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans new positions for Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba
According to the Sun, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made up his mind regarding his deployment of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba.
Fans have long awaited the chance to see the two stars together. With the Premier League set to return in just over a week’s time, it can happen it sooner than later.
Fernandes has been a massive hit since making the move to Old Trafford. However, with Pogba injured since December, they have not had an opportunity to play together yet.
Solskjaer is working on a plan to accommodate both of his stars. It will see Pogba take up a more attacking role as the number 10. Fernandes will fill in behind him as a playmaker in the number 8 role. (h/t Daily Mail)
Preparations are already underway with the Frenchman behind the striker during last Saturday’s intra-squad friendly game at Old Trafford.
Pogba is not yet up to full match fitness but did enough to impress a watching Solskjaer. It is not a role that is unfamiliar to him. The 27-year-old has made a number of appearances in the position for United. (h/t Daily Mail)
This new look midfield will face its baptism of fire in just over a week’s time against Tottenham Hotspur. Facing off against his predecessor, Solskjaer will take United a step closer to the top-four with a victory.
Ironically, one of Pogba’s best performances in a free role came under Jose Mourinho against Manchester City. Trailing 2-0, the Frenchman led a spirited comeback that saw United prevail 3-2 on the night. (h/t Man Utd)
