Peter Schmeichel has hailed Fred as ‘perfect’ for Manchester United
In a recent interview with CNN, former Manchester United goalkeeper and club legend Peter Schmeichel has heaped praises on midfield star Fred.
The 27-year-old Brazilian arrived at Manchester United in the summer of 2018. But he endured a difficult debut season in England. However, he has managed to turn things around during the 2019/20 campaign, emerging as one of our best players this term.
Indeed, Fred has been an ever-present in the middle of the park when fit and available. He has featured in 39 matches across all competitions, scoring two goals and assisting four more.
Hailing this transformation, Schmeichel hailed Fred as instrumental to club’s turnaround under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. (h/t CNN)
“Fred has been, for me, absolutely instrumental in how well the club has done this season.
“He was always perfect for the club but he’s now been given playing time and the more time he’s been given, the more confidence he’s gained and for me, he’s been one of the great stories this season at Manchester United.”
The giant Dane also added that manager and former teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserves credit for giving Fred the confidence to flourish after a difficult initiation to English football. (h/t CNN)

It goes without saying that Fred’s turnaround has been absolutely remarkable this season. The 27-year-old has been impressive defensively, but has also upped his game pushing forward from the middle.
The Brazilian’s partnership with Bruno Fernandes prior to the suspension of football showed great promise. Throw Paul Pogba in the mix and we have, on paper, one of the best midfield units in the league. Not long before we get to see the trio in action together!
