Manchester United in contact with Liverpool target Ferran Torres
According to CalcioNapoli 24 via Sport Witness (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United have already made contact with the representatives of Valencia winger Ferran Torres, who is also a target for Liverpool.
A product of the Valencia youth academy, Torres has grown into a first-team regular at the Mestalla. In the 2019/20 campaign, the 20-year-old has featured 35 times in all competitions, scoring 6 goals and assisting 7.
Set to enter the final year of his contract, Torres is keen on leaving Valencia this summer. The fact that he has had a falling out with manager Marcelino has dissuaded him from signing a new €3m-a-year contract offered by the club. (h/t Daily Star)
This situation has led to interest in him from a number of clubs, that include Manchester United and Liverpool.
It is no secret that we are eyeing a new wide player heading into the summer transfer window. Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho has been identified as the primary transfer target. (h/t Daily Star)
But the 20-year-old’s £115m transfer fee could prove to be a stumbling block, with Ed Woodward previously hinting that big-money transfers may be a thing of the past.
To that end, the Red Devils are looking at potential alternatives, with Torres emerging as one. The report further adds that the club have already held talks with the Spaniard’s camp over the possibility of a transfer.

Sancho remains the top priority for United. However, should we not be able to close the deal on the England international, Torres would represent a decent alternative.
Furthermore, considering that he has just a year left on his deal, the 20-year-old is likely to cost us much lesser as well. It remains to be seen if this interest in the Spaniard turns into something substantial in the coming weeks.
