Ole Gunnar Solskjaer picks Jack Grealish over Kai Havertz
According to a report from Goal.com (h/t Express), Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has prioritised the signing of Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish over Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz.
Despite having signed Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon in January, Solskjaer remains intent on bolstering his creative midfield department in the summer transfer window. This has seen a number of names come up in the rumour mill.
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Grealish for quite a some time now. The English midfielder has enjoyed a fine season for the Villans, despite their struggles in the Premier League.
So far in 2019/20, Grealish has produced an impressive return of 9 goals and 8 assists from 31 matches across all competitions.
Havertz, on the other hand, has been in impeccable form for Bayer Leverkusen. Especially since the resumption of the Bundesliga campaign last month. The 20-year-old has notched up 15 goals and 8 assists in 38 matches across all the competitions.
Five of those goals have come in four appearances since the German top-flight returned to action. This kind of impeccable form had put the German international on Manchester United’s radar.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prefers a move for Grealish over Havertz. The report states that the Norwegian is absolutely sold on the 24-year-old’s quality.

Soslkjaer has been keen on building a team with British talent at the core as indicated by the signings of Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Harry Maguire last summer.
Either of Havertz or Grealish would be excellent acquisitions for Manchester United. It now remains to be seen who Solskjaer goes after once the transfer window opens for business.
