Manchester United could sign Moussa Dembele on the cheap
According to French publication L’Equipe via SportWitness (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United are set to step up their chase of Moussa Dembele after the striker’s value plummeted.
The Red Devils were keen on bringing in Dembele in January but were unable to do so. Rather than give up, the club is now keen to bring him to Old Trafford this summer.
Our effort could be made easier following the financial crisis that has hit the sport. With teams having less money to spend on new players, the price-tags of players will also reduce.
According to the report, he is being considered as an attacking option amidst the ambiguity surrounding Odion Ighalo’s future at Old Trafford.
Lyon value the forward at something closer to £60million. United, however, could land him for as little as £45million. (h/t Daily Star)
The 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season at the Groupama Stadium and has scored an impressive 22 goals and 7 assists in 42 appearances.
United have been short of options up front since failing to replace Romelu Lukaku last summer. Had it not been for the excellent Odion Ighalo, United would not have been able to manage Marcus Rashford’s injury.
The Nigerian international’s loan deal is coming to an end this Sunday. It remains to be seen whether his stay can be extended. In Dembele, we could secure a player who is already familiar with English football.
