Jesse Lingard keen to commit his future to Manchester United

Speaking on Adidas Home Team’s The Huddle (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United star Jesse Lingard has expressed his desire to commit his future to the club.

The 27-year-old has endured a season to forget at Old Trafford. He has scored a paltry two goals and two assists and has started just over 18 of the 35 games he has played. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Having come under the wing of superagent Mino Raiola, he has been linked with a move away from United. However, given his latest comments, it seems otherwise.

“I have the right attitude, I have the right desire, I have the right hunger to win games to play for United to obviously win trophies which is one of the most important things.”

Lingard revealed that he is keen to return fitter and sharper and see out the season on a successful note.

With football set to return after three months, Lingard believes United will need to get to a flying start and also carry it into next season.

Lingard has been at United since the turn of the century. Having come up through the youth ranks, he made his first-team debut in 2014. Capable of playing in a variety of positions, he has now made 202 appearances for the club while scoring 21 goals and 20 assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Lingard has vowed to improve his performances

The Englishman is not ignorant of his poor run of form last season. He has admitted to his lack of output and has promised to improve this season.

“So this season I’m gonna have targets, I’m gonna have goals that I need to hit, individually and as a team as well.”

Lingard’s drive to succeed has come with around a quarter of the season left. United are alive in the UEFA Europa League and the FA Cup, not to mention the race for the top four.

There is not a better time for a player to be hitting form than now. Better late than never.
