Manchester United go up against Manchester City for Vinicius Tobais
According to Tuttomercatoweb (h/t MEN), Manchester United are competing against Manchester City for the signing of Brazilian wonderkid Vinicius Tobais.
The 16-year-old, who plays for Internacional, has drawn great interest from our arch-rivals. They have already signed 17-year-old Brazilian Yan Couto from Coritiba.
City are hopeful of agreeing on a deal to sign Vinicius who is described as one of the best in his age group in South America. The deal will see him officially move to the club when he turns 18.
Interest in the player is high, with Spanish giants Real Madrid also keen.
The Red Devils have focussed on signing promising young players in recent windows. Having already secured Hannibal Mejbri and Dillon Hoogewerf last season, they are set to add Radek Vitek, Joe Hugill and Marc Jurado this summer.
Teenagers Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams have already made their breakthroughs this season, with James Garner expected to follow.
This is not yet taking into account the club’s interest in Birmingham wonderkid Jude Bellingham. At 16 years and 38 days, Bellingham became the youngest player in Birmingham history. He has also represented the English youth sides from the Under-15 to Under-17 level.
The club has in recent windows attempted to sign the best youth talents in an attempt to form a conveyor belt of players coming through to the first team.
With the coronavirus pandemic set to affect the way clubs function in the transfer market, the ability to produce one’s own talents remains more important than before.
