Manchester United given a clear path to pursue Kalidou Koulibaly
According to French publication Le Parisien (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United have been given a free run in their pursuit of Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly.
This comes after Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain pulled out of the race as they believe Napoli’s asking price of £63million is too much.
The Senegalese superstar is one of Europe’s best defenders. He has been on our radar for a while now given his impressive performances for Napoli.
Despite garnering interest from the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool, United and PSG were the ones considered to be in the front seat. With the Parisians now dropping out, we can breathe a sigh of relief.
The soon to be 29-year-old will considerably strengthen the United backline. With the futures of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones up in the air, there is an opening in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
The Red Devils went big last season to secure the signings of Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The duo has considerably strengthened our backline. Adding the Senegalese to the mix will only take us up a notch.
The prospect of facing the Senegalese colossus alongside Harry Maguire in defence will be a daunting prospect for any opposition.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has steadily built up the United squad. We are still, however, a few key additions away from challenging at the top.
If we secure Koulibaly, it will be one less addition to worry about.
