Ajax Amsterdam keen on luring Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson in the January window.

Dean Henderson could go out on loan once again next season

According to ESPN, Manchester United are set to rebuff all offers for promising goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The 23-year-old is one of the Premier League’s best keepers this season and has a long term future at Old Trafford. However, with David de Gea currently in between the sticks, the decision has been taken to send Henderson out on loan next season (h/t ESPN).

A decision that has proven unpopular with fans who are keen to see the player turn out in United colors.

Currently, on loan at Sheffield United, Henderson has gone from strength to strength. He has not only been a solid presence in a high-flying Blades side but has also improved over the course of the season.

He has kept more clean sheets than De Gea and is in running for the Premier League Golden Glove. Just 23, Henderson has posted numbers comparable to the United star. He does lack in experience to the Spaniard but has the potential to become an elite goalkeeper in the future.

His performances have seen him capture the interest of Chelsea and Juventus. Henderson is not keen on a return to Old Trafford to play the role of a deputy. United are aware of this and believe sending him out on loan for another year will work out for the best (h/t ESPN).

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to persist with De Gea, who only recently penned a contract extension. But if the Spaniard is the present at United, Henderson is the future.

The Red Devils are keen to showcase their faith in the players’ abilities. With his current contract up in 2022, United are considering offering him a new contract. This will not only acknowledge his increased value but also protect his future at Old Trafford (h/t ESPN).

Henderson has made 27 appearances in the Premier League and has kept 10 clean sheets this season. He is behind only Nick Pope, the Burnley custodian who has 11, in the race for the golden glove.

Henderson has been a consistent performer for a couple of years now. He won the EFL Golden Glove in 2019 and was also a part of the English team that won the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2017.

It looks like he still has much to prove before taking the reins at Old Trafford.
