Man United establish contact to sign Portuguese wonderkid they deem as next Ronaldo

Manchester United keen to make big money splash on Joao Felix

According to Le10 Sport (h/t Express), Manchester United have established contact with Atletico Madrid for Portuguese wonderkid Joao Felix.

The Red Devils view the youngster as an excellent addition to the midfield. Felix is the latest addition to the list that includes Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish and Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is keen to exploit the transfer market due to the chaos caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

In spite of being linked with a move for Jadon Sancho, United are still in the conversation regarding Felix. The Portuguese only moved to Atletico last season for £113million in one of the most expensive deals of all time.

Manchester United are keen on Joao Felix

The Red Devils view the player to be the next Cristiano Ronaldo and have stepped up their interest.

The Premier League giants have now established contact with intermediaries including super-agent Jorge Mendes following internal discussions.

Felix has failed to set the Wanda Metropolitano alight in his first season. He has six goals and three assists in 28 appearances. Although not bad by any means, maybe it is not what was expected of him.

In spite of his struggles, Atletico are not keen to sell the player. The player too appears to be happy at the club. The youngster signed a mega seven-year contract which only expires in 2026.

Felix has refused to downplay comparisons to Ronaldo. Doing so can be considered of him being confident in his abilities. Signing a player of his quality will be a massive coup for United. Whether we can pull it for real or not remains to be seen.
