United keen on Moussa Dembele in a deal worth £60million
According to the Daily Star (h/t Express), Manchester United are keen on Moussa Dembele after Barcelona overtook the Red Devils in the race for Lautaro Martinez.
Having joined Lyon in 2018, the Frenchman has scored 39 times in 82 matches for the French giants.
The 23-year old will cost United around £60 million.
United were keen on securing the player in the January transfer window. Unfortunately, no deal materialized.
Instead the Red Devils signed Odion Ighalo on loan until the end of the season. The Nigerian is at best a short-gap and Ed Woodward is keen on bringing in a striker in the summer on a permanent deal.
The player will be offered a massive £150,000-a-week paycheque if he makes the switch to United.
According to transfer expert Duncan Castles, United could have signed the player in January. However, Lyon refused to budge on their £84 million valuation.
Marcus Rashford is the only recognized senior striker in the squad. United’s overdependence on the youngster has led to him having to play through injury this season. United have to bring in cover and support for the striker failing which he runs the risk of burnout.
