Manchester United interested in signing Youri Tielemans in the summer

Manchester United are watching Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans and are ready to battle with Tottenham for his signature, report the Daily Mirror.

The Belgium international, 21, on loan from AS Monaco, has been a revelation at the King Power Stadium since joining in January, scoring twice and laying on three assists. And £40million could be enough to land Youri Tielemans in the summer, though Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to extend the Belgian’s time at the King Power Stadium, claim the Daily Mirror.

Tielemans’ solid form has caught Manchester United and Tottenham’s attention but it’s the former that should go all out to sign him in the summer.

Tielemans would a top addition for Man United

Strengthening United’s backline has to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s priority in the summer. Regardless of what happens, a strong, dominant and experienced centre-back is needed at our club ahead of the 2019/20 season.

A couple of midfielders also has to be on Solskjaer’s wishlist as we are likely to lose some in the summer. Ander Herrera is expected to sign for PSG on a free transfer, while we have already offloaded Marouane Fellaini to Shandong Luneng in January.

Then there is Juan Mata, who is yet to reach an agreement over a new deal with our club and is expected to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season. Thus, the potential departures of Herrera and Mata will leave Solskjaer needing additional cover in that position.

Tielemans will be a top fit at Old Trafford. He can play in different positions across the midfield and will give Solskjaer’s side creativity and flair in the final third, whilst linking up well with the likes of Pogba, Fred and McTominay.
