Ashley Young and Manchester United are negotiating a new deal to stay at Old Trafford for another year, according to the Daily Mail.
The report adds that United activated a 12-month extension on Young’s previous contract in March woth £130,000-a-week, and the player would be a free agent at the end of the season.
The 33-year-old didn’t have a great start to the campaign but has done a much better job in recent games as our right-back.
The former Watford man can play as a winger and has filled in as left-back multiple times under Jose Mourinho.
Young would prefer a two-year deal, as per the report, however, the discussions with his agents is about a one-year extension.
The Englishman is currently the captain of the Red Devils as Antonio Valencia is out with an injury, and Paul Pogba was removed from his role as the club’s vice-captain.
The former Watford attacker has done a decent job as a right-back but he isn’t a natural in that position and has been caught out of position a number of times.
United need to have some experience in the side, and extending Young’s deal makes some sense. However, playing him as our first-choice right-back certainly is not the right move from the club.

Diogo Dalot, signed in the summer, has struggled with injuries since moving from Porto. Hopefully, the youngster puts in some great performances and takes over from Young soon.
