Manchester United are keeping tabs on Roma attacker Lorenzo Pellegrini, according to Calciomercato (h/t Express).

The Italian has been one of the bright sparks for the Italian side and has a couple of goals and five assists in all competitions.

The report adds that Jose Mourinho would be provided with a transfer kitty of £100m after the United manager failed to get big names into the club during the summer.

The 22-year-old Pellegrini was one of the stars for Roma last season and the report claims United wanted to sign the Italian in the summer.

The Roma man decided to stay with the Serie A club and has a release clause of £26m (h/t Express). The Serie A giants are wary of United’s interested in the 22-year-old, and the report adds that Roma will offer Pellegrini a huge deal to keep him in Italy.

The 22-year-old mostly plays as an attacking midfielder and bringing him to Old Trafford could be one of the smarter deals if we can sign him for £26m (h/t Express).

The Italian could be part of our midfield three and provide Mourinho with greater room to tweak his formation around too.

United didn’t sign any attackers in the previous window and we seem to be lacking some bite in the forward line. It remains to be seen what our actions will be once the January window opens, and hopefully, Mourinho will get the right players to turn the team’s fortunes around.
