Predicted Manchester United line-up to face Young Boys

Manchester United travel to Switzerland as they face Young Boys in their opening Champions League clash.

The Red Devils come off a confidence-building win over high-flying Watford from the weekend and should start as favourites against the home side.

Jose Mourinho confirmed that Luke Shaw would play the game on Wednesday as he rotates his left-backs. Apart from that, we may expect one or two more changes in the line-up.

With the game against Wolves coming up on Saturday, here’s how the manager could field his team against Young Boys.

Predicted Manchester United XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Jose Mourinho

David de Gea (GK)

De Gea produced an excellent last-minute save to ensure we bagged three points at Vicarage Road. He must aim to keep a clean sheet against the Swiss side.

Antonio Valencia (RB)

Valencia should keep his spot in the team as we must start the Champions League campaign with a bang.

Eric Bailly (CB)

The Ivorian hasn’t started many games for us but he could get a look-in as we need to rotate the side a bit.

Chris Smalling (CB)

Smalling scored a fantastic volley in the win over Watford, however, he should contribute towards maintaining a clean sheet for the side on Wednesday.

Luke Shaw (LB)

Shaw got injured on international duty and missed the game on Saturday. However, he is expected to take the field on Wednesday.

Fred

Fred (CM)

The Brazilian hasn’t been at his best at United but this could be the fixture which kick-starts his career at Manchester.

Marouane Fellaini (CM)

Fellaini has been brilliant since coming back into the side. His combative skills will be important for this clash.

Paul Pogba (CM)

The Frenchman has to start for us as he is the driving force in attack. Provided he is at his best, we could see a masterclass from Pogba against Young Boys.

Marcus Rashford (RW)

The English striker was suspended for the trip to Watford but he could receive a start in our Champions League opener.

Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku (ST)

Lukaku has been on fire this season, scoring in wins over Watford and Burnley. Big Rom should start against the Swiss side on Wednesday.

Anthony Martial (LW)

The French attacker could get a game given that he hasn’t started many this season. Martial needs to prove his ability and a match against the Swiss minnows would be ideal for him.
