The Sun reports that Manchester United could revisit their interest in signing Lorenzo Pellegrini in the winter window. The report adds that the Italian was a summer target for the Red Devils but no deal was made for the 22-year-old.
The report further claims that the Italian fits the mould of a box-to-box midfielder for United and would provide them with a link between the defence and the attack.
The 22-year-old player 28 games for Roma last season, notching up three goals and four assists for the Serie A side.
Pellegrini is known for his interceptions, passing ability and dead-ball delivery. If signed, the youngster could play alongside Paul Pogba and Fred.
United haven’t been at their best this season and the loss against Brighton & Hove Albion laid our problems for all to see.
The attack was missing, the midfield could not impose themselves and the defence was all over the place. Pellegrini might not be the biggest name we have been linked with but he could do a stellar job in the middle of the park.
The report from the Sun adds that a central defender is still Jose Mourinho’s priority. Toby Alderweireld’s price had come down from £55million to £35million but the failure to sign him in the summer has left Mourinho “puzzled”.
