Former Arsenal player Stewart Robson believes Alexis Sanchez is lacking confidence at Manchester United (h/t Daily Star).
The former Arsenal star was speaking to ESPN FC and was quoted by the Daily Star as saying:
“Sanchez has been a bit-part player for Manchester United since he’s been there.
“Even in the first game against Leicester, he did one or two good things, but he gave the ball away.
“He looked like a player that’s lacking confidence at the moment.”
Sanchez played in the 2-1 win over Leicester City on opening day but was far from his best.
The Chile international, who is currently earning wages in the region of £350,000-a-week, joined us from Arsenal in the January window. However, he has only scored twice in 12 Premier League appearances for United.
Sanchez had a productive 2016/17 season for the Gunners, where he scored 24 goals in 38 Premier League appearances.
And French football expert Julien Laurens claims that Sanchez has to play in the same manner if United are to do well this season.
Laurens was speaking to ESPN FC (h/t Daily Star) and further claimed that Paul Pogba is the most important player for us.
“He will have a big part to play in United’s season for it to be a successful season.
“He needs to rediscover that form because he was not good enough between January and May when he was at United last season.
“Those six months should be useful for him to kick on his United career this season coming.”
United’s next game is against Brighton on Sunday and it will be interesting to see just how Sanchez performs in the match.
