“He’ll leave unless something changes soon” – Man United risk losing star player on a free transfer next summer

Manchester United‘s Juan Mata could be set for a return to his old club Valencia, according to The Sun.

The Spanish star has spoken about an extension with the Red Devils, according to the report, however, with 12 months remaining on his current deal, Valencia want to sign the 30-year-old.

The report further adds that Valencia would sign the Spaniard if he is available on a free transfer. They would not be able to pay a transfer fee and his weekly wage, which around £130,000-a-week at United.

The Sun even quoted a United source as saying that Valencia want Mata and there is a “strong connection” between the pair.

“His deal is up next summer and it looks likely he’ll leave unless something changes soon.

“We know Juan’s motives are not related to money and there’s a very strong emotional attachment to take into account.”

Mata spent four years at the La Liga club before moving to England and has been one of the best players to have graced the Premier League in recent years.

The Spaniard is a quality player and losing him would be a big blow. Mata has always given it his all in the Red of United and it would be better if we keep him for a few more years.

Mata can play in a number of positions and a replacement for his commitment and class would be tough to find.
