Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for a central defender but it is going to be tough to bring in Harry Maguire, given that Leicester City are looking at close to £80million for the 25-year-old.
United already have a number of central defenders in Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling.
However, a report from the Mirror claims that Bailly is the only defender that Mourinho seems to trust and we could be looking to play Nemanja Matic as a central defender next season.
The Serbian has been one of our better buys under Mourinho and he always gives it his all. The defensive midfielder could possibly do the job at the back for Manchester United but it would make sense if we bring in another quality central defender.
Toby Alderweireld is another centre-back we have been linked with but Tottenham are playing hardball by demanding £60m for the Belgian.
Mourinho hasn’t made a lot of big signings in the summer, with Fred being the one marquee signing this season and if we are looking to defeat Manchester City and other clubs for the title, we need to have more quality players coming into the side.

Matic playing as a central defender has to be the last option for us and frankly, if we are resorting to moves like this, the season would not be a good one.
