Manchester United have entered talks with Thiago Alcantara of Bayern Munich over his situation at the club as they look to sign the Spain international, as reported by ESPN (h/t Express).
The 27-year-old could be looking for a move away from the Bundesliga giants and new boss Niko Kovac is also open to letting him leave.
Thiago is also being tracked by his former club Barcelona but another club is also looking to sign him up and that is Chelsea.
The report claims that the Blues have also enquired about his availability and both the Premier League sides are ahead of Barcelona in terms of signing Thiago up.
The Spanish midfielder didn’t play a lot of football last season as he only made 12 starts in the Bundesliga for the Bavarian side. He did, however, make it to the Spanish side that failed to perform at the World Cup.
United, for their part, have brought in just one midfielder this season in the form of Fred. We are also stocked in the midfield, with the likes of Marouane Fellaini, Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba already in the side.
It will be interesting to see how much Bayern would want for a star that didn’t really light it up last season. Thiago could be one of those relatively cheap signings and with us looking to bolster our side for a shot at the Premier League, bringing the Spaniard in does make sense.

We don’t have a lot of attacking options in the midfield right now but Thiago could certainly change that ahead of the new season should Jose Mourinho land the player.
