Manchester United handed massive Pau Torres boost as Villarreal set £26m price tag
If a transfer news report from Gazetta dello Sport is to be believed, Manchester United have been handed a massive boost in their pursuit of Pau Torres, as Villarreal now value the defender at a modest €30m (£26m).
It is no secret that United are after a central defender. We are badly in need of a defender to partner Harry Maguire. He is the only dependable option in central defence right now.
Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof have not stepped up to the challenge. It’s only natural we are after a defender.
Pau Torres has been heavily linked with Manchester United this summer. He has been a vital cog in Unai Emery’s Villarreal side who await us in the Europa League final.
The 24-year-old Spanish defender was outstanding against Arsenal in the Europa League semi-finals. The Gunners even draw a blank in the second leg at home.
Despite Villarreal setting a bargain price tag, they’re not doing it without a reason. Real Madrid are also really keen on the player. The Yellow Submarine expect United and Real to go on a bidding war for the player, which would drive up the price eventually.
The €30m price tag seems to be a trap to lure both United and Real Madrid into bidding for the player.
