Manchester United determined to launch £50m bid to hand Liverpool a massive transfer blow

Manchester United have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Napoli star Jorginho. According to Daily Star, Mourinho is determined to beat the Reds for the signature of Jorginho and could launch an initial £50m.

We will be in need of new midfield reinforcements at the end of the season, considering that the futures of Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini are currently the subject of speculation. Carrick is set to retire at the end of the season while Fellaini has not signed a new contract with us, meaning that his future likely lies elsewhere.

The 26-year-old Jorginho has attracted interest from numerous English clubs, including Liverpool, with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp being a fan of the player.

We have reportedly sent scouts to monitor the progress of Jorginho and we view him as the ideal replacement for Micheal Carrick in midfield. Since joining Napoli from Verona in 2014, Jorginho has gone on to make more than 130 appearances for the club.

After signing Alexis Sanchez during the January transfer window, Mourinho confirmed last month that our top target for the summer transfer window would be a new midfielder. He said,

“We need to sign a midfield player. Because we are going to lose Michael Carrick. Of course, we need balance in the team. Some of you [the media] keep saying that we are going to buy that striker, that winger, that left winger, that right winger.

“You can accuse me of many things, but you cannot say that I lied to you. When I don’t want to say things, I don’t say [them]. But I don’t take you in other directions. We are looking and we are going to try to sign a midfield player.”

Though we are second in the Premier League this season, we have delivered some questionable performances at times which has proven that we do need to make quality signings in the summer in order to challenge for major silverware.
