Jose Mourinho is reportedly growing confident of signing Marquinhos from PSG. The Brazilian defender has been a target for several clubs over the last few years. Barcelona and Real Madrid have been linked with a move for his services for quite a while, but it seems like Manchester United may be having the last laugh.

The club are becoming increasingly confident about being able to bring the defender for around £50million. It would represent another extravagant sale of a defender by PSG, as the club sold David Luiz to Chelsea last summer.

Marquinhos has caught the attention of every top club with his composure on the ball while also being able to stop the opposition. At just 22 years of age, he is beginning to grow into a top player. After having gone through several managers in the search for Champions League glory, Paris Saint-Germain may decide to go for a change in players. The club already allowed Zlatan Ibrahimovic to leave on a free transfer last summer. The presence of the Swede at Old Trafford could turn out to be a major factor behind United leading the race to sign Marquinhos.

Ibrahimovic has a great relationship with Marquinhos and he would be able to convince the player to move to Old Trafford, despite the club already having an excellent set of central defenders. Marquinhos would certainly represent a gamble for the Premier League club, but his talent and ability on the ball are clearly second to none.

PSG are growing concerned about Marquinhos’ contract situation. With the player out of contract in June 2019, the French outfit have been unable to agree on fresh terms with the player. As long as it is the case, United will be feeling extremely confident about their chances of landing the player, who came to PSG as a highly talented youngster from Roma in the summer of 2013. Even back then, he cost around a whopping £27million and PSG would not be ready to sell for anything less than that.

Do you think Marquinhos would be a good addition for Manchester United?
