So Roberto Mancini and Joe Hart are at loggerheads in the aftermath of Manchester City’s defeat at Real Madrid last night.
Should Hart who had an excellent game last night come under some slack from his manager for giving his opinion after the game. Was he the sole reason megabucks City failed to come away from the Bernabeu with a famous win that looked on the cards?
Nope. Of course he wasn’t. City due to individual mistakes.
Yaya Toure should have made it 2-0 on the break before Marcelo scored. Marcelo scored because he was allowed to come in on the left. Benzema’s goal whilst a great individual strike went in because the team switched off and Cristiano Ronaldo’s winner came about because Pablo Zabaleta allowed him to come in and Vincent Kompany decided to duck instead of making an attempt to block the shot which unsighted Hart in goal.
Eden Dzeko clearly wasn’t a happy bunny either last night claiming that the result shouldn’t have happened. Of course it shouldn’t have happened. Then again QPR shouldn’t have thrown away the game in May should they. City fans moaning that they lost the game due to their squad being inexperienced in the Champions League is total gobwallops!
Yes City as a unit are new to the Champions League. This is their second year in the competition but many of their big-money signings have played in the competition. They have a squad glittered with internationals who have played in the biggest cups and stadiums around the world so ‘inexperienced’ cannot be used as an excuse here.
At the end of the day City should still go through in their group. Ajax should be beaten home and away and if they can take 4 points off Borussia Dortmund they should go through. There’s no need to panic quite yet for them, but it’s nice for the rest of us to see the cracks emerging in Mancini’s squad. It won’t make up for May 13th though!
