Lammens starts again? Manchester United predicted XI vs Liverpool

Manchester United are scheduled to visit Anfield Stadium this Sunday (October 19) as we prepare for a high-stakes Premier League headline game against Liverpool. This kick-off is set for 16:30 BST as two of the biggest names in world football rub shoulders. While one is playing to keep up with Arsenal at the top of the league, the other has to save face and grab some confidence after a lacklustre start to the season under Amorim.

Before going into the international hiatus, Ruben Amorim & Co. got some much-needed three points against Sunderland (FT 2–0), and the Manchester Reds would be hoping to take some of that momentum into the game at L4 this weekend.

That win against the Black Cars and the fact that not many are performing at the top of their game give Amorim little reason to tweak his side majorly from the last time they played ahead of the international ties. And we will take a look at how exactly the Portuguese head coach could line up for facing Arne Slot’s men.

Man United predicted lineup vs Liverpool

Goalkeeper: Senne Lammens

Deadline day arrival Senne Lammens is expected to keep his place between the sticks for the trip to L4. The Belgian put in an impressive performance in his Premier League debut. Altay Bayindir is yet to convince with his abilities despite ample chances. And the fact that the young Belgian kept a clean sheet and then also showed a lot of composure against Sunderland, he has earned himself another opportunity.

Defence: Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw continues in LCB role.

Both Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui remain on the sidelines for now. While both of them are close to returning, and there are also reports about the latter earning himself a place on the bench, he would not get a start anyway. This leaves Amorim with limited options at the back.

However, the current trio have been impressive, and Amorim again has little reason to change anyway. So the back three of Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Luke Shaw are likely to continue. Yoro and De Ligt will bringthat strength and positioning, while Amorim will need all of Shaw’s experience on the left to deal with Mohamed Salah (especially given how Dorgu, who is expected to line up in that LWB role, has been struggling in the recent weeks).

Midfield: Amad Diallo, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Patrick Dorgu

Bruno Fernandes will start with Casemiro in the middle of the park. The former will be expected to move into advanced zones to support the attack and lay off balls for the front three. And then the experience of Casemiro will come in handy given the atmosphere at L4.

Amad Diallo keeps his place at right wing-back. He had a decent outing against Sunderland.

Patrick Dorgu also keeps his spot in that left channel. But he will have to be wary of Salah and his antics.

Forward: Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko

And then when it comes to the attacking side of things, there is little to change. Sesko is finally getting used to the pace and power of the English top tier. And given that Liverpool will be expected to keep the majority of the ball, both Mbeumo and Cunha are equipped to make the most of offensive transitional situations.
