Manchester United are monitoring Brentford talent Yehor Yarmoliuk
Manchester United continue to explore options for their midfield, and the need to refresh the squad remains obvious after another inconsistent start. With doubts over senior figures in the squad, and Tyrel Malacia now set to return to training after a recent snub, attention has shifted to younger players who could fit Ruben Amorim’s plans in the long term. According to journalist Marc Brus in the Daily Briefing, United added Yehor Yarmoliuk to their shortlist of transfer targets.
The 21-year-old has developed well at Brentford and attracted interest from several Premier League clubs. Tottenham Hotspur are also in the race, and their manager Thomas Frank could use his connections with his former club to influence talks. Brentford, however, do not want to lose their midfielder, and have extended his contract until 2031.
Even so, reports suggest Yarmoliuk could become a major transfer story in the summer of 2026. Both United and Spurs will likely want to strengthen their midfields. His rise shows why top clubs search for players who possess energy, versatility, and composure in key areas of the pitch.
Why do United want him?

Manchester United’s reported interest in Yarmoliuk is logical because their midfield needs reinforcement. Amorim wants a box-to-box option who brings intensity, and the Ukrainian matches that profile. The 21-year-old works hard, presses effectively, and tackles strongly, while also contributing by moving the ball forward and linking play with accurate passing. His ability to play as a holding midfielder, in central roles, or even as a number 10 adds flexibility.
There are, however, weaknesses. Yarmoliuk has yet to score for Brentford in 72 appearances, which shows his lack of goal threat. His statistics underline this, with zero goals but one assist so far this season. The Ukrainian is still young and may need more time to deliver consistently at the top level.
Still, with Matt Le Tissier urging United to look at Oliver Glasner instead of Gareth Southgate as a possible replacement for Amorim, the club know careful planning is vital. Brentford’s £30 million valuation suggests a deal could happen, though Spurs’ involvement complicates the situation. With Casemiro’s contract ending in 2026 and other midfielders struggling, United can afford to look at the 21-year-old midfielder to strengthen their squad.
