Fabrizio Romano provides latest update on top candidate linked to replace Ten Hag at United

published :

There is a sense of uncertainty going around at Old Trafford as Manchester United follow two consecutive draws, which means that the club has now suffered their worst start ever. All jacks were staked against United when they visited Villa Park last weekend, and they could only come out of it with a draw, which means that Erik ten Hag’s side have only aggregated eight points in the opening seven games of the 2024/25 season.

This is United’s lowest point tally in the opening seven games of their season since 1989-90, when they finished 13th in the league.

This has fueled the rumours of the Dutch head coach getting sacked in the international break. And admitting the rumours linking a probable sack, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on a possible name that the chiefs at Carrington are looking at for ten Hag’s replacement.

Inter boss Inzaghi to stay put despite Premier League interest

Inzaghi to stay put at Inter for now

There were rumours linking Inter boss Simone Inzaghi with a move to Manchester United, and amid links with taking over the reins at Old Trafford, it is said that the Italian has declined a financially atrocious offer to join United over the international break.

Inzaghi is likely to look over another title race in the Italian top tier, with his Inter Milan sitting only two points adrift of table-toppers Napoli, where former United midfielder Scott McTominay now plies trade.

Which makes it more understandable for him to reject a move to United, where they are already out of any possible title race. Now Fabrizio Romano has spoken about a move for the Italian manager, suggesting he will remain with his current employers for the ongoing season but could be open for a Premier League move in the off-season.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said:

“I can tell you that there is absolutely nothing going on. No chance. Simone Inzaghi is, and will be Inter manager for the season. There is no doubt or discussion. It’s not about money or United, Inzaghi is working for Inter, and Inter working with him. That’s it for this season. Nothing to mention but in the future, we will see. Never say never. For the moment, I can guarantee there is nothing ongoing.”

With Ten Hag’s future uncertain, Thomas Tuchel is a likely option if the club decides to make a change in the middle of the season. However, at the moment everything is radio noise and nothing is concrete; we will see how the situation changes along the window.
