Manchester United are looking at possibilities to bring former Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel to Old Trafford if Erik ten Hag is relieved of his duties. The Dutch manager is under massive pressure off late owing to Utd’s disastrous start to the 2024/25 campaign.
The Manchester Reds are looking at possibilities to bring the 51-year-old to replace Ten Hag, with the German coach still being out of job after leaving Bayern Munich at the conclusion of the previous season.
Tuchel ‘second chance’ at Old Trafford?
Tuchel is one of the options that could bring high technical understanding and depth to the squad, and the German comes with exemplary experience of managing elite clubs and managing pressure to win every three days.
And transfer guru Fabrizio Romano insists that the chiefs at Carrington did speak about possibilities of landing Thomas Tuchel, and they also had a meeting with the manager and his representatives last summer. However, at that moment they decided not to proceed with the German and continue with the former Ajax coach instead.
Although the situation has been messy at Old Trafford and if change comes, the Italian journalist insists that Tuchel would be one of the options to take charge of the club.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio said:
“Internally at Manchester United, they had a meeting with Thomas Tuchel and also with his agent representing him, so there was a meeting. Then they decided not to proceed on both sides. United had some names in mind last summer when they considered the possibility of replacing the manager. Then they decided to continue with Ten Hag, but Tuchel was there, and Tuchel can be a candidate.”
It looks like if a change is made mid-season, Tuchel could be a strong option; however, that could change if the club decides to wait till the turn of the campaign to change the managerial situation.
