Southampton talent Tyler Dibling was excellent against Man United at St Mary’s Stadium
Manchester United were one of Europe’s busiest clubs in the summer transfer window, reinforcing various areas of the pitch after a disastrous 2023/24 campaign.
Dan Ashworth was appointed sporting director at Old Trafford over the summer after leaving Newcastle United. The new sporting director wasted no time getting to work, helping the club sign first-team players as well as next-generation talents.
The Premier League heavyweights have already signed teenagers Leny Yoro, Chido Obi Martin, Samuel Lusale, James Overy and Sekou Kone under the watchful eyes of Dan Ashworth. The Red Devils chief is continuing his scouting mission, as INEOS plans for the forthcoming transfer windows to help reshape Erik ten Hag’s squad.
According to a report from GIVEMESPORT, Southampton prodigy Tyler Dibling has emerged on the radar of Manchester United, with Ashworth keen to lure him to Old Trafford having been an admirer of the player’s talent since his Newcastle days.
Tyler Dibling made his first Premier League start in the 3-0 defeat to Man Utd last weekend. He gave Diogo Dalot a rough time at left-back, winning his side a penalty from the Portuguese’s foul while the game was at 0-0. Despite the Saints going down, the youngster was arguably their best player in his fantastic 63-minute display.
Southampton are fighting tooth and nail to keep hold of Dibling. The newly-promoted Premier League club wants to secure the left-footed winger’s long-term future by tying him down to a new deal. The England under-19 international only penned his first professional contract last December, keeping him on the club’s books until the summer of 2026 (Transfermarkt) while the Saints also have the option to trigger a 12-month extension to further his stay.
The aforementioned report adds Man United could be interested in trying to turn Dibling’s head as he is open to continuing with his boyhood club by signing a new long-term deal regardless of a poor start to the 2024/25 campaign. The Exeter-born talent enjoyed his breakthrough last season, making cameo appearances in the Championship alongside starting the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Watford.
As for the Red Devils, Antony’s transfer hasn’t worked out after a promising start to his career. The diminutive Brazilian has fallen down the pecking order this season, starting just one game in the Carabao Cup. With the 24-year-old failing to live up to his billing, INEOS must look to move him on next year and try replacing Antony with a high-potential player in Dibling.
