United were in pursuit of €32,308 per week North American striker.

As the dust finally started to settle on the recently closed summer transfer window, Chelsea and Manchester United emerged as the highest spenders from England.

Underscoring United’s strategy, the club gave out a keen focus on blistering their midfield and defending ranks. That is the only reason they signed defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro from Bayern Munich and Lille respectively. They also made a peculiar addition to their attacking ranks by grabbing Joshua Zirkzee from the Italian club Bologna.

Making things more intense, the club did not hesitate to rope in defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Parsi Saint Germain. However, the 23-year-old is yet to make his debut for the club.

Jonathan David was on Manchester United’s shortlist.

As Erik Ten Hag and Co. made a comeback in their most recent fixture against Southampton, a revelation related to their transfer scenario has taken centre stage.

Erik Ten Hag had Jonathan David on his shortlist

A report from the news outlet Give Me Sport claims that the English Giants had the Lille striker Jonathan David on their shortlist if they had failed in their pursuit of Zirkzee. It is worth noting that the Canadian international currently earns €32,308-per-week in his current club.

David remained a hot commodity throughout the trading days of the recently ended transfer window. However, nothing came out as a result as the 24-year-old is back in France with the Ligue 1 juggernauts, with his contract expiring next summer.

Drawing a comparison between David and Zirkzee, it would be too early if we concluded. The Old-Trafford’s recruit certainly deserves a bit of time or at least a few games to completely adapt to the new environment of England.

Zirkzee has made three appearances for his club so far and opened his scorebook by delivering a brace in United’s only victory so far in the season against Fulham. If things do not go for the Red Devils as they have planned, they might look out for David again to bring him to England.
