La Liga side failed in last minute approach for Manchester United star in the summer window.

Real Betis failed with an 11th-hour bid for Manchester United star Christian Eriksen

One of the most intriguing stories from the 2024/25 summer transfer window has recently come to light. La Liga side Real Betis made a late approach to sign veteran Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen on deadline day, but it ultimately fell short.

This development comes at a time when United have signed Manuel Ugarte as their first-choice defensive midfielder for the season, signalling their intent to clear the ranks for him. With Ugarte set to play a pivotal role, the club may be looking to offload some of its older players to make room for the fresh talent.

Real Betis pushed for Christian Eriksen on deadline day

As per Fabrizio Romano via X, it has become a public affair now that Real Betis approached Manchester United to sign Christian Eriksen right on the deadline day.

However, the proposed move fell through, as neither the club nor the player gave the green light. Despite various links and rumours, it has also been confirmed that Ajax made no formal bid to sign Danish international Christian Eriksen from Manchester United.

Since joining Old Trafford on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee, Eriksen has made 73 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring three goals and providing 13 assists.

Eriksen’s situation adds to the club’s growing concerns. With recent performances highlighting their struggles in

midfield—particularly Casemiro’s mistakes in the 3-0 loss to Liverpool—the question remains whether Eriksen’s role is still vital to the team.

Manuel Ugarte is also on the verge of fully integrating into the squad, but how long it will take for the Uruguayan to adapt and make his mark remains uncertain. Meanwhile, the team continues to struggle, sitting 14th in the Premier League table with two losses and a single win from their first three games.

Nothing seems to be going right at Old Trafford at the moment, and all eyes are on Erik Ten Hag and his squad as they try to find a way forward..
