Manchester United beat Fulham 1-0 in their Premier League opener at Old Trafford to start their campaign with three points. The Red Devils are using this season to right the wrongs that happened last season which ended with dire consequences.

Man United failed to qualify for the Champions League this season due to their last season’s struggles with inconsistency. The severe injury crisis played a mitigating factor while off-field drama created a lot of chaos for the club.

United manager Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho had a public spat, ending with the English forward leaving on loan. While Sancho helped Borussia Dortmund reach the Champions League final, Ten Hag rectified the season by winning the FA Cup.

Sancho and Ten Hag have reached an amicable point this summer which allowed the 24-year-old to rejoin the senior squad. The Englishman played in the pre-season friendlies, featuring as a make-shift number nine in the absence of a natural forward.

However, Ten Hag dropped Sancho once again for the opening fixture of the Premier League which raised more transfer rumours. The Athletic (via Manchester Evening News) reported that United are bracing for a bid from Chelsea for Sancho this summer.

The London club are active as usual in the transfer market and they want to add Sancho to their squad. United values Sancho for £40 million and they are open to selling the 24-year-old before the deadline day this summer.

The Red Devils signed Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for a huge sum of £73m after his

incredible rise in football in Germany. However, Sancho failed to rediscover his Dortmund form at United and struggled to make significant contributions before his public spat.

United are active in the transfer market as they seek to strengthen their team further before the transfer window closes. Financial Fair Play rules are hindering the Red Devils’ activities in the transfer market and they need to sell players. Sancho’s sale would allow them a lot of financial freedom that they desperately need to compete with their rivals.
