Manchester United have continued to go about their merry ways in the transfer market as they look to bring in players to plug the immense gaps in Erik ten Hag’s squad. Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro were the club’s first couple of signings for the summer.

Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, the Bayern Munich duo are on the verge of joining the club, having completed their medical tests in Carrington. The duo would add steel to what has looked like a shaky defence at Old Trafford for quite some time now.

One position for which the Red Devils are yet to sign reinforcements in midfield. Despite being linked with many names so far, it looks like Dan Ashworth & co. are still unable to identify the correct profile that they need or reach an agreement if they have identified a player.

Time to turn elsewhere?

As per reports from Brazil by @reporterfragoso via TNT Sports BR, Man Utd are now willing to negotiate to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo. The Premier League club want around £34.2m for the player and the Red Devils are set to open talks.

The 23-year-old Brazilian has been with the English side since last summer and his performances have been noteworthy for a lower-rung team. Danilo has done well under Nuno Espirito Santos and could be ready to take the next step in his relatively young career.

However, does that step need to be as giant a leap as Man Utd? We are not very sure! The defensive midfielder is a profile that Erik ten Hag is looking for but Danilo is not yet ready to step into the big shoes of Real Madrid legend Casemiro.

Danilo is currently valued at around €28m by Transfermarkt. Nottingham Forest are asking for slightly more to part ways with him this summer. The club is sensing the interest in him and looking to make a quick profit as they move on to another player.

It is true that Man Utd need a centre-back but that doesn’t mean that they must keep throwing mud at a wall to see what sticks. Ashworth needs to be clever about this signing as the club has already spent a lot of money this summer and be aware of who they sign going forward.
