Fulham have submitted a £20 million transfer offer for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, far less than their asking price
Fulham targets Manchester United star Scott McTominay, submitting a £20 million bid for the combative midfielder. The Red Devils tried to sell McTominay last summer but he stayed put despite interest from several Premier League clubs.
Fulham have acquired a healthy transfer fee by selling their midfielder Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich earlier in the summer. However, the transfer market has a plethora of midfield talents which goes against United’s favour in acquiring a huge sum for McTominay.
McTominay’s place in the team came under immense pressure last summer when United signed Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat. However, poor performances and injury issues to the two new signings opened up the door for McTominay to prove his worth.
The 27-year-old delivered by scoring some crucial match-winning goals when United manager Erik ten Hag needed a hero last season. McTominay played a crucial role in Man United’s FA Cup triumph over Manchester City last season to secure a trophy.
While some fans would prefer McTominay to stay after his contributions last season, the rise of Kobbie Mainoo could limit his chances drastically. Furthermore, the Red Devils are still assessing the market for a number six as an upgrade to what they already possess.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (via X), Fulham have submitted a £20m bid for McTominay which United could reject. The Red Devils want £30 million for their Scottish midfielder and believe that they can acquire that amount.

United have faced pressure from Financial Fair Play rules as they recently signed Leny Yoro for a big amount. Selling Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, Alvaro Carresas and Donny van de Beek has helped their finances a bit.
