Amad Diallo wants to secure permanent spot in Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United squad
Manchester United winger Amad Diallo hopes for a long-term future at Old Trafford. He claims that he is ready to fight for a place in Erik ten Hag’s first-team plans. The Ivory Coast international has been included in the pre-season squad by the Dutch manager, and Ten Hag is also impressed with his performance in the pre-season games so far, per Mail Online.
Amad surprised the United fans at Old Trafford with his 121st-minute winning goal against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarterfinals. The fans went crazy after the win, and his contribution helped the Red Devils win the FA Cup last year by beating Manchester City in the final.
The Atlanta academy graduate joined United following his journey with the boyhood club. After signing the player, the club sent him on back-to-back loan spells with Sunderland and Rangers. After returning to Old Trafford last summer, the player picked up an injury in the pre-season match against Arsenal and had knee surgery that kept him out until December.
Ten Hag had immense trust in the young forward and helped him to again form by providing more playing time. Amad appeared in 12 games under the Dutch manager and scored two goals for the club in the last campaign. He was also included in United’s pre-season squad and he also scored against Rangers in the pre-season tour.
The winger claims that he is happy with the club and manager and also mentioned that he is currently preparing for the upcoming season.
“I am so excited. I believe in the manager. I know last season I didn’t play a lot, but this season is going to be a good season for everyone. We have a good team, good players, so the manager makes the final decision on the pitch and
the bench. You need to be ready. It was not easy for me to get an injury in pre-season last season. I was out a long time but the most important thing was to come back stronger, to help the team. In the end, I was happy with my contribution. I forgot the past and now I’m thinking about the present.”

United manager Erik ten Hag is set to focus on the young players in the squad, and he has completed the signings of two young talents, Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro. The Dutch manager has immense trust in youth and we can expect some more young signings in the summer.
