Four Man United players facing injury lay-offs ahead of 2024/25 kick-off
Manchester United are in the United States as they finalise preparation for the 2024/25 campaign. They’ve won both of their friendlies in California, thanks to a penalty shootout victory over Arsenal and a 3-2 success against Real Betis, but all has not been well for Erik ten Hag off the pitch.
The manager will need to contend with as many as four injuries.
Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed lengthy lay-offs for both, Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund. The defender is set to be ruled out for three months due to a foot injury while the Danish international will also spend six weeks on the treatment table following a hamstring issue.
Ten Hag’s misery was further compounded by Marcus Rashford and Antony facing time out on the sidelines after the duo was substituted off injured in the Betis friendly on Thursday, as per Mirror.
While how much time both forwards will be out for will only be determined after further tests, it is far from good news for the Dutchman, whose official campaign gets underway in 10 days.
Manchester United get the ball rolling on the 2024/25 season with the FA Community Shield against Manchester City, before playing host to Fulham at Old Trafford on the weekend thereafter.
Hojlund and Yoro are certain to miss the first couple of fixtures of the new season, and then some afterwards, but Ten Hag will hope that Antony’s and Rashford’s substitutions are not the reason for grave injuries.

United are well-covered in Hojlund’s position following Joshua Zirkzee’s signing, whereas Rashford can also be used as a striker if the need arises. However, Yoro’s foot problem could mean the club pursues Matthijs de Ligt’s signing with greater intent or slams the door shut on any of Victor Lindelof’s departure plans.
