Man Utd given boost in Mazraoui pursuit after West Ham fail
Manchester United have been looking to bolster their defensive depth as the Red Devils look to go well-prepared into the upcoming season, and Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
The club are likely to sell former Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka and turn to a more all-around player in Mazraoui.
Dalot has done fairly well in the position, albeit he lacks an equally explosive backup at the moment. This makes United’s interest in bringing the former Ajax defender.
Ten Hag keen on reuniting with Mazraoui
While Manchester Reds have well-established links for a move for the 26-year-old, Premier League rivals West Ham United jumped the queue for his signatures.
The London club made a £16 million offer for the player, which in turn was accepted by Bayern Munich. They went on to agree the personal terms with the player, and just when everything looked good to conclude, the player walked away from the negotiation table after failing to strike an agreement with his agent.
With the Hammers deal falling through, this will give a boost to United as they look to reignite interest in singing the 26-year-old this summer, per The Mirror.
Ten Hag has previously worked with the defender, and he sees potential to find him a place at Old Trafford.
The Dutch boss believes that having Mazraoui could also end up having a domino effect on Antony, who has massively struggled to come good at Old Trafford since his £85 million move to United. However, Erik ten Hag feels Mazraoui could help save Antony’s career representing the Manchester Reds.
