AS Monaco’s Vanderson has emerged as a potential option for Man United to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka
According to a report from Sky Sports, Manchester United are interested in signing AS Monaco right-back Vanderson this summer.
The Red Devils have enjoyed a solid summer transfer window thus far, adding the likes of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro to the squad. With the 2024/25 season now less than a month away from commencing, INEOS are planning to intensify their efforts to strengthen the squad further.
Manchester United could be in the market for a new right-back with Aaron Wan-Bissaka expected to leave the club this summer. The 26-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract and the Mancunian giants are open to cashing him in, with West Ham United trying to bring him back to London.
Should Wan-Bissaka leave, Man United would like to bring in AS Monaco’s Vanderson. The Brazilian arrived at AS Monaco from Gremio in January 2022 and has become a mainstay for the French side’s backline. He has made 84 appearances for Monaco this far, registering six goals and nine assists.
Despite an injury-curtailed 2023/24 season, the 23-year-old bagged three goals and an assist in 20 Ligue 1 appearances. Vanderson made a huge impact at the back end of the last campaign as the Red and Whites finished runners-up to Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1.
The Rondonopolis-born flyer signed a contract extension with Monaco earlier this year until 2028 (Transfermarkt), but the aforementioned report claims that he could be available for around £30m in this transfer window. Monaco’s supposed valuation of Vanderson is relatively cheap, considering the player still has four years to run on his current deal.
Vanderson is a modern-day right-back who could be a good alternative to Man United’s first-choice right-back Diogo Dalot. Speedy, agile, enterprising and aggressive, he would be an upgrade on Wan-Bissaka and add a lot more to the Red Devils’ play down the right-hand side. The Brazilian is one of the most dynamic full-backs in Ligue 1, and at 23, he is seemingly ready for a step up.

A potential move to Old Trafford would give Vanderson a wonderful platform to showcase his skill set at the highest level and unlock his true potential under Ten Hag’s watchful eyes as a result. Eventually, we must offload Wan-Bissaka before bringing in the Monaco star, and INEOS must act quickly in this aspect.
