Shock move? Man Utd open to selling McTominay
Manchester United are looking to sell midfielder Scott McTominay in the ongoing summer transfer window, and the Red Devils have set a £30 million price tag for the 27-year-old’s services, per Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke insists that the Scotland international prioritizes staying at Old Trafford beyond the ongoing window, despite links away from the club.
The Scotland international was subject to links away from Manchester United last summer as well, although he continued at the club after ultimately staying. He reciprocated Erik ten Hag‘s trust with some clutch games last season.
McTominay scored ten goals in the last season and ended up becoming a regular at Old Trafford, having 43 games under his belt in all competitions.
Ten Hag’s midfield crisis deepens as McTominay’s exit looms
The club is not actively pursuing a deal to sell McTominay this summer unless a mammoth bid arrives for his signature. There is said to be no rush, despite the midfielder entering the final year of his contract at United.
This summer is an opportunity to cash in on the 27-year-old unless they can agree upon the terms of a new deal to keep him at the club beyond next summer.
Manchester United lack options in the midfield at the moment, and any sale would leave Erik ten Hag really light in the middle of the park. It could be one of the reasons why Erik ten Hag is not actively pushing to sell McTominay.
Alongside McTominay, Casemiro is also linked with a move away from United, which will further stretch the midfield options at Old Trafford.
