Ivan Toney tells friends that he wants to join Manchester United
Manchester United had been monitoring Ivan Toney’s situation at Brentford before they eventually signed Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna earlier this week.
According to Football Insider, it has emerged that the English international is keen on a transfer to Old Trafford and has talked about his desire to his friends as well as international teammates at Euro 2024.
The 28-year-old is expected to leave Brentford this summer and his value has dramatically collapsed over the past year or so as a result of his age, lacklustre form and last contract year.
The Bees had been hoping to earn at least £90 million for Toney, but a £60 million offer could now convince Thomas Frank’s side to sell the forward this summer.
However, it is extremely unexpected that Manchester United will now show any interest in Toney after acquiring Zirkzee unless there is a drastic turn of events in Erik ten Hag’s squad.
Rasmus Hojlund is already available to the manager having arrived from Atalanta last summer and Zirkzee’s purchase has more or less secured the number nine position at Old Trafford.
Man United’s focus had been on a central defender but that target is also on the verge of fulfilment following the imminent arrival of Leny Yoro in the next few days.

As far as Ivan Toney is concerned, his best bet would be to consider a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, who have been keen on him as a replacement for Harry Kane and could be well-placed to bring him in before the start of the new season.
