Mason Mount acknowledges fan support after Man United’s first pre-season game
Man United midfielder Mason Mount was quick to acknowledge and thank the fans for their support after the first game of the pre-season, posting a story on Instagram for the same.
United kicked off their 2024/25 pre-season with a 1-0 away defeat to Rosenborg on Monday.
Mount started the game for United but came off at halftime.
It’s a stuttering start to the new season for Erik ten Hag and his men after securing a second trophy in as many seasons in their last game.
Mount, in particular, would want to put this performance and the debut season at Old Trafford behind by having a productive campaign this time around and hopefully make his way back into the England national team setup under the new manager, who at the time of writing remains unannounced.
Ten Hag, now with an extra year in his contract at United, will know that he will need to continue delivering results if he wants to prolong his stay at the club beyond the coming season.
Lads, it’s pre-season
When club football returns after a break in the summer, the fans, grasping at straws and waiting for any action to come their way, often tend to take pre-season results too seriously.
The pre-season, as has always been the case, is meant for experimentation in the beginning while the players return and gain back their fitness. This United defeat, therefore, remains no matter to be worried about, especially when you keep in mind that most of the squad will remain unavailable for a while.
