Manchester United consider signing £38 million Premier League full-back this summer

Rayan Ait-Nouri the latest man on Manchester United’s radar ahead of possible summer move

Manchester United encountered a number of injury problems last season but none graver than the ones at left-back as Luka Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both spent time on the sidelines.

As a result, the Red Devils have not ruled out bringing in a fresh face this summer and Give Me Sport has reported that the club is keeping tabs on Wolverhampton Wanderers star Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Ait-Nouri’s stock has risen significantly in the last year or so at the back of some great performances at Molineux, where he has become an all-round package in the left-back role.

The Algerian international is among the best young full-backs in the Premier League and it only seems like a matter of time before he leaves Wolves for a bigger and probably better venture.

Manchester United are keen on signing him but it is expected that Ait-Nouri’s price will significantly elevate from the initially anticipated value of £38 million following Max Kilman’s sale.

The central defender’s departure for West Ham in a move rumoured to be worth £40 million has alleviated Wolves’ pressure to get rid of players and thus, they can dictate terms over Ait-Nouri’s possible sale.

It is still unknown how much the player’s updated asking price is, but GMS’ report adds that United might be priced out of a transfer for the 23-year-old, at least this summer.

Nevertheless, it may still be worth a shot for Manchester United to formally approach Wolverhampton Wanderers for Ait-Nouri’s transfer in the next few days to get an idea on his transfer fee.

If a left-back does not sign in the next few weeks, Erik ten Hag will hope that Shaw is able to put his injury issues to bed in the new campaign while Malacia also stays fit after failing to make a single appearance in the 2023/24 season.
