Manchester United board are ready to offer Leny Yoro a six-year contract

Manchester United have officially kickstarted business for this summer’s transfer window by confirming Dutch international Joshua Zirkzee’s arrival from Bologna and are now eyeing Leny Yoro.

The Dutchman’s transfer is expected to be followed up by that of a central defender with Jarrad Branthwaite, Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt having been linked with the club in recent weeks.

A transfer for Yoro is particularly headed in the right direction as the Red Devils have already agreed on his transfer fee with Lille after they had their £42 million bid accepted.

Manchester United are all set to progress in the transfer by offering Yoro a five-year contract with the option to extend for another year, according to Florian Plettenberg via X.

The finer details of the proposal such as the salary are yet to be clarified but with Liverpool and Real Madrid circling over the French youngster, United’s offer will need to be very compelling.

Securing a defender is very high on Manchester United’s list of priorities after Raphael Varane’s exit as they look to find a long-term solution at the back as well as a partner for Lisandro Martinez. Once United make their offer to Yoro, the decision would be down to the player on whether he wants to head to Old Trafford amid talk that he has told Real Madrid that he wants to join them.

The 15-time European champions, however, are hopeful of completing a cut-price transfer for Yoro as he is in the final year of his contract and thus, they are yet to agree on a transfer fee with Lille. An extremely talented player, Yoro has been compared to Raphael Varane and William Saliba.

It has also been speculated that the player would remain open to the idea of staying in France until 2025 to join Real Madrid as a free agent next year. Manchester United’s contract offer to Yoro would all but culminate their commitment towards completing the transfer and they can seek closure regarding the teenager, or focus on other targets.
