Hojlund’s steak signals striker battle at Man Utd
Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has published a timely statement as the Danish ace gears up for competition at Old Trafford with a medical for Dutch ace Joshua Zirkzee scheduled for today at Carrington.
The Manchester Reds have splashed money on another striker only twelve months after spending £72 million to bring Rasmus Hojlund to Old Trafford, following the 21-year-old’s mixed first season in the English top tier. Irrespective of his challenging time in England, the Dane ended the season with 16 goals in all competitions.
Erik ten Hag relied on the former Atalanta star for the entirety of the season without a suitable backup, but that is set to change now as United agree to a £36 million deal to sign Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee from Italian side Bologna. The 23-year-old scored an aggregate of 11 Serie A goals for Thiago Motta’s side and played an integral role in helping Bologna qualify for the Champions League.
However, the former Bayern Munich striker is prepared to take a step down to the Europa League with the Red Devils.
Hungry Hojlund ready to battle for starting spot
With both forwards operating in a solely striking role for the majority of their careers, the same is expected to continue at Old Trafford next season. Hojlund has expressed his readiness for the tussle-come-next campaign as he took to Instagram to affirm his commitment to the upcoming challenges at United.
The £72 million striker published a picture of himself while on holiday eating a huge tomahawk steak, and the 21-year-old wrote in the caption affixing the photo: “This is how hungry I am for the season to start.”
It is fair to say that his post received rave reviews from his current teammates. Former Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount wrote “Madman,” alongside three laughing emojis, while Argentine ace Alejandro Garnacho posted: “It will be scary, but not for us.”
Lisandro Martinez came out writing, “Enjoy your holidays and stay calm,” as Harry Maguire hilariously spotted a glass of wine on the table and wrote, “I hope that’s blackcurrant in that glass.”
