Manchester United are interested in signing Juventus star Gleison Bremer
Brazil international Gleison Bremer admits he’s ‘flattered’ by links of a move to Manchester United, but insists he is happy at Juventus.
The centre-back made a name for himself at Torino in Italy. He chose to swap Torino for Turin rivals Juventus in the summer of 2022. Since arriving at Juventus, Gleison Bremer has established himself as one of the best defenders in Europe, playing a pivotal role in his side’s Coppa Italia Cup win over Fiorentina this past season. Juventus legend Sergio Brio has named Bremer as “the best defender in the Serie A”.
The Brazilian’s consistent performances in Italy have seen him catch the eye of Manchester United. While he is ‘flattered’ by their interest, Bremer believes he is already in a great team and sees little need to swap the Old Lady for Man United.
“I am flattered by the interest of some top clubs but I am already in a great team like Juventus,” Bremer was quoted in a report from Italian outlet Tutto Juve.
“I am very focused on the Copa America. I have many goals. I want to play one or two World Cups and I want to continue fighting for important titles in Europe.”
The Red Devils are in the market for a centre-back following the departure of Raphael Varane upon the expiry of his contract last month. Lisandro Martinez spent the majority of the 2023/24 campaign on the sidelines, while the likes of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof haven’t lived up to the high expectations at the club in recent years. Willy Kambwala has immense potential but needs time to develop into a regular centre-back.
Thus, reinforcing the backline after last season’s disaster is an absolute necessity, and Bremer certainly fits the bill. Strong in the air, physical and tenacious in the challenge, the 27-year-old would bolster the Erik ten Hag-managed side’s backline. Being right-footed, he would complement Martinez in central defence as well as add much-needed quality depth to the squad.

The ex-Torino man is a good reader of the game and barely gets flustered in 1v1 situations. Plus, Bremer’s recovery pace should help Ten Hag employ a high line with great effect at Man United. He is at the peak of his powers and could become an instant hit among the Old Trafford faithful.
Now that Brazil are out of the Copa America, we can expect the Bremer saga to accelerate. However, following the Brazilian’s latest comments about being happy at Juventus, INEOS may need to work extremely hard to persuade him to join our club.
