Barcelona want €100 million for Manchester United target Ronald Araújo
As reported by Metro, according to Mundo Deportivo, Catalan giants Barcelona want at least €100 million to let Ronald Araújo go.
The 25-year-old is being chased by big names all over Europe, with Manchester United and Chelsea leading the race for his signature in England.
Barcelona’s well-documented financial woes have many believing that they won’t be able to play hardball for their players, but the Blaugrana are definitely interested in at least starting out that way.
Man United are looking to fill the void left by Raphaël Varane, whose contract officially expires at the end of this month. The Red Devils have also been linked with Jean-Clair Todibo, Jarrad Branthwaite, and most recently, Matthijs de Ligt.
Araújo’s current €7m-per-year contract at Barcelona is set to run until June 2026.
Barcelona may relent, but United are better off looking elsewhere
Given their financial difficulties, their inclination to buy more players this summer, as well as the fact that the 25-year-old centre-back has only two years left on his contract, it is likely Barcelona will reduce their asking price by a bit. Under Joan Laporta, they have a track record of not sticking to their hard stances for very long.
Nevertheless, even if that were to happen, Araújo would still be a too-expensive move for United, at least when compared to the other names they have been linked with, even De Ligt.
