Barcelona are considering a loan move for Manchester United star Jadon Sancho
Barcelona have emerged as the latest club linked with a move for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho this summer.
Sancho’s future at United is considered all but over after the club’s decision to stick with Erik ten Hag going into the 2024/25 season. Sancho and Ten Hag had fallen out at the start of this season, which saw the former train either with the academy players or by himself, ostracised from the first-team squad.
He then spent the second half of the season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he quickly returned to the first team and played a crucial role in Dortmund’s run to the Champions League final.
Both Dortmund as well as Juventus have shown an interest in acquiring Sancho’s services, but they have thus far been reluctant to entertain United’s asking price for their outcast.
Barcelona, too, owing to their financial struggles and as reported by SPORT.es, are unlikely to go for a permanent move for Sancho and would instead prefer a season-long loan.
Sanco’s £195,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford is set to run until June 2026.
A solution that could help all involved parties
United are understandably looking to sell Sancho this summer. And, if his performances in the second half of the season gone by are anything to go by, there is still a player in there ready to thrive in a favourable environment.
With two years remaining on his contract, United can afford to let Sancho go out on a season-long loan to get more playing minutes and hopefully boost his market value. What they cannot afford, however, is letting him stay at the club and risk making things worse both for himself and Erik ten Hag.
