West Ham’s Edson Alvarez gives diplomatic answer regarding his future with Manchester United
As stated by Manchester Evening News, West Ham star, Edson Alvarez has refused to make a direct comment on his links to Manchester United. The 26-year-old has constantly been the subject of a lot of talk surrounding Old Trafford this summer.
Alvarez was a workhorse for West Ham in the midfield last summer. He made 43 appearances and spent most of his time playing as DM. Alvarez’s excellent distribution and stellar coverage of the pitch were key for David Moyes and his crew last season.
The Red Devils will need to make signings on all levels this summer. However, their middle line is in a very sorry state. Last season, the team had to heavily depend on Kobbie Mainoo for large stretches of the season due to ongoing injury struggles.
Pairing Alvarez with a player of Mainoo’s calibre would do wonders for Manchester United. However, fans will not be happy about the way he deflected talks of the future by making a diplomatic comment recently. Let’s have a look at what Alvarez had to say when asked about his future. “I can only tell you that I’m focused on what I have to do,”
Alvarez added that he believes the entire world is watching the Copa America. So, the player’s full focus at the moment is on performing for his country. However, the 26-year-old did suggest that there might be time to consider options after the tournament.
At the very least, the Red Devils will have to wait for the Copa America to end before they can hold talks with West Ham over a potential deal for Edson Alvarez.

Depending on the player’s performance in the Copa America United might have to spend more money on him. There’ll be more on the situation as it develops over the coming weeks. Alvarez has played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax, so the Dutchman might be able to help the club land a deal this summer.
